Blog Tour: Shadow of the Mark by Leigh Fallon

Welcome to the start of the Shadow of the Mark blog tour! I'm very excited to have Leigh Fallon here today to answer a few questions about her series and Ireland (I'm kinda an Irish girl, if you hadn't noticed!).

1.      It feels like forever since we left Megan and Adam and all the other amazing characters. Has there been a time lapse between Carrier of the Mark and Shadow of the Mark?
It does feel like forever, but in Megan and Adam’s world there is no time lapse. The action picks up right where it left off.

2.      Why did you pick an Irish setting for your books—not that I’m complaining. I’m a fan of the Irish, myself.
In Carrier and Shadow, Ireland is as much a character as Megan and Adam. The setting actually came before the story. I was living in Kinsale Ireland when I wrote Carrier of the Mark and it was the beauty of the town and the surrounding landscape that inspired me to write in the first place.

3.      Will there be more to the Carrier of the Mark series? If so, when can we expect it?
I hope so. I have the third book and final book in the works. As for when to expect it…that’s up to the publisher. I have my fingers crossed.

4.      Are there any books you’re excited to read in 2013?
I have so many I’m excited for. I have loads of TBR books all over my house, but for the 2013 I can’t wait to read Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo, Goddess by Josephine Angelini, Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike, and If I Should Die by Amy Plum.

5.      What projects do you currently have lined up?
I’ve a few on the go. I’ve nearly finished the third book in the Carrier series. I’m also working on an eerie ghost story set in Ireland, and a contemperary romance set in a small town in the Cascades. I’ve lots of other books outlined that I’m so excited to start work on. I’d love to be able to sit down and power through them, but as a mom of four young kids, my writing time is very limited. I adore story telling and write whenever I can, but my children come first.

6.      What is one thing people might be surprised to learn about Ireland?
You might be surprised to learn that Ireland is not the number one consumer of the very famous drink, Guinness. Nope. We are only third on the list. The UK beats us to the number two spot, and the number one spot is held by…wait for it…Nigeria! Strange but true.

Blurb:

Their love could destroy them all.
Through the ages, Marked Ones have harnessed the powers of the four elements: Water, Fire, Earth, and Air. Much about the elements is shrouded in mystery, but one thing is certain: A relationship between two Marked Ones has the potential to cause widespread devastation.
Megan and Adam—Air and Water—are determined to defy the risks.
But the power that swirls inside Megan is growing in twisted ways. And the closer she is to Adam, the closer Megan comes to unleashing a dark force that could spell destruction for the entire Marked line.

About Leigh:
Leigh Fallon was born in South Africa, raised in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Cork in her 20's. While living in beautiful Kinsale, her novel, The Carrier of the Mark was conceived. She promptly abandoned her 'riveting' career in corporate treasury and discovered Inkpop, a website for budding writers of teen fiction. Within weeks her manuscript hit the coveted top five spot and was reviewed by an editor at HarperCollins. A few emails and some hysterical screaming later, she signed her first deal. Leigh and her family now share their time between Ireland and the US.

  1. Really? I would definitely have picked Ireland as number one in Guiness consumption! The UK would have been a close second guess for me, but Nigeria wouldn't have been on my list at all. Love random tidbits like that. I still need to read this series, I'm in love with all things Ireland! Awesome interview ladies:)
